1. Any booked day is “correct” and creates a point based on two variables, price and lead time

  2. All unbooked days are assumed to be incorrect on price and are subject to change

  3. You must get booked to discover correct prices and use that data to discover more correct higher prices

  4. We assume prices for dates farther away will be correct at the same price or higher than its nearest, earlier, correct day, 45 days away is equal to or greater than 30

  5. We assume empty dates earlier than a booking will be correct at only prices lower than its nearest future booking, 25 days out will be less than 30 until 25 books and it’s price is raised

  6. We start the game by defining a “bottom” and “top”

  7. The game never ends

  8. Every booking allows us to raise our price for dates equal to and or greater than the lead time of the booking

  9. Each booking gets journaled by DATE, GROUP SIZE, LEAD TIME, and ADR

  10. Collect dots of data, the more the better

Battleship is a pricing approach where each booking becomes a correct dot, defined by price and lead time, you document every hit, raise prices for dates at equal or greater lead time, lower earlier empty dates until they book, and evolve a pricing ladder from guaranteed price to highest collected
